Minnesota-based Americana band Maygen & The Birdwatcher is set to take the stage at Big Turn Music Fest 2025, performing at 6:30 p.m. in the Portage Room at the Saint James Hotel.
Originally a folk duo, the group has evolved into an adventurous blend of country, bluegrass, folk, and blues, offering a fresh and dynamic sound. Since releasing their 2021 full-length debut Moonshine, the band has performed across the Midwest and beyond, earning accolades such as Americana Artist of the Year and Album of the Year at the Midwest Country Music Awards.
Their musical journey includes appearances at major regional and national festivals, the release of Moonshine’s companion EP, Bootleggin’ At The Flower Shoppe, and a well-received cover of the Eagles’ classic “Desperado.” Their rendition landed on multiple Spotify playlists, including Indie Bluegrass and Bluegrass Covers.
Most recently, the band released Leap Year on August 2, 2024. Lead vocalists Maygen Lacey and Noah Neumann bring distinct musical influences and styles to their songwriting, resulting in a compelling and unique sound.
“In many ways, Maygen & The Birdwatcher feel like a collaboration between two distinct artists rather than a seamless band—but it’s that individuality, those visible seams, that make them such a fascinating act,” wrote Adventures in Americana.
For those attending Big Turn Music Fest 2025, this performance promises to be a highlight, showcasing the band’s signature blend of storytelling and musicianship.
