Indie pop sensation Clairo has released a visually captivating music video for her track “Terrapin,” directed by actor and comedian Ayo Edebiri, and starring the iconic “Weird Al” Yankovic. The song is from her GRAMMY-nominated and critically acclaimed album Charm, which was hailed as one of the best albums of the previous year.
The music video, produced by Curfew and now streaming across various platforms, features a playful, nostalgic aesthetic. Yankovic, dressed in black tie, explores a quirky film set complete with background dancers Mykel Marai Nairne and Rachel Gill, alongside vibrant 80s-style double exposure shots. Clairo herself also makes a cameo in the lighthearted visuals.
This marks Edebiri’s directorial debut in the music video world, following her acclaimed performance as Sydney Adamu on The Bear. Edebiri’s work as a director in the series’ third season earned her a Directors Guild of America Award nomination.
Continuing the whimsical tone set by earlier videos from Charm, such as “Juna,” which was filmed at an indie wrestling match, and “Sexy to Someone,” where Clairo shares a bonfire with a yeti, the “Terrapin” video offers viewers a delightful mix of nostalgia, humor, and imaginative fun, perfectly capturing the spirit of the album.
