Toby Keith is being honored one year after his passing with a heartfelt tribute shared on his official Instagram account, believed to be from his family. The post, marking the anniversary of his death, reads, “We can’t believe it’s been a year since the world lost Toby.”
The tribute continues, “We have a hole in our heart and our lives. The love and support from the community that Toby created has left us all thankful and grateful. It has and continues to honor Toby. We know he would be proud of the legacy he left behind.”
The family asks fans to celebrate Keith’s life by listening to his music, with the message concluding, “Today we hope you will celebrate and listen to his music with us, where we know he is smiling down and raising his cup. A toast to a life well lived.”
Keith, 62, passed away on February 5, 2024, after battling stomach cancer, a diagnosis he publicly shared in June 2022. His family remembered him as someone who “fought his fight with grace and courage.”
Since his death, Keith has been posthumously honored with a degree from the University of Oklahoma, inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and celebrated at the 2024 CMA Awards and 2025 Grammys.
