Legendary Australian rock band The Choirboys are set to return to Griffith and Albury in April 2025 as part of their Run to Paradise tour, marking their long-awaited return to the eastern states.
The band’s last visit to Griffith was in 2019, when they played the Rewind in the Vines festival. During that performance, local guitarist Rob Fattore had the chance to join The Choirboys on stage, an experience he described as “out-of-body.” Reflecting on the moment, Fattore recalled playing alongside bassist Ian Hulme and the late drummer Lindsay Tebbett, praising their exceptional rhythm section. “What a rhythm section. And of course, the incredible Mark Gable up front as the iconic Aussie rock frontman was crazy,” he added.
Fattore’s connection with the band dates back to the 1980s when his own group, Desert Ratz, had the honor of supporting The Choirboys at the Yoogali Club. He described the experience as “the best musical experience of my life.”
Ahead of their 2025 tour, Region caught up with Choirboys’ lead vocalist Mark Gable, who shared insights on his love for regional towns, the challenges facing new rock bands in the modern music scene, and what concertgoers can expect from their upcoming shows. Gable, now 74, also reflected on the challenges of late-night shows after 47 years of touring.
