The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been forced to cancel their festive show in Los Angeles after one of the band’s members was injured.

The By The Way rockers, made up of Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith, John Frusciante and Flea, were due to take the stage at the Kia Forum for the 32nd KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas on Saturday (23Dec12), but an undisclosed member of the group suffered an undisclosed injury, forcing them to cancel the show.

However, on March 2, 2024, they will still play the Almost Acoustic Christmas encore concert.

A statement read: “It is with deep regret that we will not be able to perform at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas this weekend.

“A band member has been injured and will be unable to perform for at least 6 weeks. However, RHCP and KROQ are looking forward to making it up to you on March 2, 2024”.

Those with tickets to this weekend’s show will be able to use their original tickets to attend the March date.

They added, “So have a great time this weekend and hold on to your ticket.”

In 2017, frontman Anthony, 61, toured with a “torn tendon in his ankle.”

In an interview with ET Canada at the time, he said: “I’m always getting banged up and hurt and repairing and recovering and hurting and it’s just normal.

“Right now I have a torn tendon in my ankle from spinning around the night after, but it’s going to heal.”

The rock group also had to pull out of their headlining slot at the KROQ Weenie Roast at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, California, and their scheduled performance for iHeartRadio after Anthony was taken by ambulance to the hospital with “extreme stomach pains”.

Their drummer Chad, 62, revealed their medical emergency had been “very frightening” but assured fans that Anthony is “recovering”.
