Alexandra Kay Delivers Stunning Rendition Cover of Duet

Carrie Underwood

Rising country music star Alexandra Kay has shared a captivating cover of “I’m Gonna Love You,” the heartfelt duet by Cody Johnson and Carrie Underwood, which was released earlier this year. The ballad, featured as one of 13 tracks on Johnson’s deluxe edition of Leather, has been reinterpreted by Kay with her own emotional spin.

Known for her “coffee covers” on social media, Kay teamed up with guitarist Rocko Beall for the rendition, filmed as they shared two mugs of coffee. Over the years, Kay has gained recognition for her covers of songs by country greats like LeAnn Rimes, Tim McGraw, and Kacey Musgraves. Her latest performance follows a milestone in her career, as she joined Jelly Roll on his Beautifully Broken tour earlier this year. Kay recalled the unforgettable moment when she took the stage in the pouring rain to sing Lainey Wilson’s part in Jelly Roll’s hit “Save Me.”

Written by Chris Stevens, Kelly Archer, and Travis Denning, “I’m Gonna Love You” was produced by Trent Willmon. Johnson has spoken about the deep personal connection he felt to the song, sharing that he knew Carrie Underwood’s voice had to be part of it from the moment he first heard it. Underwood later surprised fans with a live performance of the duet with Johnson at the 58th CMA Awards in Nashville last month.
